The Difference of BFA and WFA in Hardness and Toughness
In addition to the very obvious difference in color, brown fused alumina and white fused alumina, of course, can be clearly distinguished from hardness and toughness.
1. The hardness of brown fused alumina is slightly lower than that of white fused alumina. But brown fused alumina has a high degree of toughness, and it can withstand tremendous pressure. Brown fused alumina has a very strong resistance feature which makes brown fused alumina abrasive grain is widely used in grinding wheels and cutting wheels.
2. However, the self-sharp performance of white fused alumina is good, and the overall grinding of white fused alumina is better than that of brown fused alumina. Therefore, white fused alumina is widely used in the grinding of various alloy steels and cutting tools with fine grinding or semi-finishing. Compared with brown fused alumina, the cost of white fused alumina is higher.
