The Differences Between Brown Fused Aluminum Oxide And White Fused Aluminum Oxide
Brown Fused Alumina and white fused alumina are both widely used in coated abrasives, bonded abrasives, polishing media, sandblasting abrasive grit and refractory raw materials. However, there are differences between brown fused alumina and white fused alumina. Their differences are listed below.
Brown fused alumina is in dark brown, while white fused alumina is in white.
2. Raw Materials
Brown aluminum oxide(brown fused alumina) is made by high-quality bauxite, while white aluminum oxide(white fused alumina) is made by calcined alumina powder.
3. Alumina Content
Brown aluminum oxide content 95% min of alumina, but white aluminum oxide has 99% min of alumina.
4. Bulk Density
Brown Fused Alumina bulk density is (1.53~1.99g/cm3) and true density (3.90g/cm3). While white aluminum oxide bulk density is (1.75~1.95g/cm3) and true density (3.95~3.97g/cm3).
5. Refractory Temperature
Brown aluminum oxide has the refractory temperature of 1850 Celsius degree. White fused alumina has the refractory temperature of 2100 Celsius degree.
Although brown fused alumina and white fused alumina Mohs hardness are 9, White fused alumina is harder that brown fused alumina. While white fused alumina is more fragile compared with brown fused alumina.
