Differences Between White&Brown Fused Alumina
Brown Fused Alumina and white fused alumina are both widely used in coated abrasives, bonded abrasives, polishing media, sandblasting and refractory materials. The main content of brown fused alumina and white fused alumina are aluminum oxide/ alumina.
Their differences are listed below.
1. Different Color
Brown fused alumina is dark brown, while white fused alumina is in white.
2. Different Raw Materials
Brown aluminum oxide/brown fused alumina is made by high quality bauxite, white aluminum oxide/white fused alumina is made by calcined alumina powder.
3. Different Alumina Content
Brown aluminum oxide content about 95%min of alumina, but white aluminum oxide has 99% min of alumina.
4. Different Density
Brown Fused Alumina bulk density is (1.53~1.99g/cm3) and true density (3.90g/cm3). While white aluminum oxide bulk density is (1.75~1.95g/cm3) and true density (3.95~3.97g/cm3).
5. Different Refractory Temperature
Brown aluminum oxide has refractory temperature of 1850 Celsius degree. White fused alumina has refractory temperature of 2100 Celsius degree.
6. Different Hardness
Although brown fused alumina and white fused alumina Mohs hardness are 9, White fused alumina is harder that brown fused alumina. While, white fused alumina is more fragile compared with brown fused alumina.
